SMPTE is a professional membership association of technical geniuses who make it possible for everyone to experience the advancement of entertainment technology. For more than a century, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE®) addresses many significant advances in media and entertainment technology, from the introduction of “talkies” and color television to HD and UHD (4K, 8K) TV. Since its founding in 1916, the Society has received an Oscar® and multiple Emmy® Awards for its work in advancing moving-imagery engineering across the industry. SMPTE’s global membership today includes more than 7,000 members: motion-imaging executives, creatives, technologists, researchers, and students who volunteer their time and expertise to the Society’s standards development and educational initiatives. A partnership with the Hollywood Professional Association (HPA) connects SMPTE and its membership with the businesses and individuals who support the creation and finishing of media content.
The International Trade Association for the Broadcast & Media Industry (IABM®) facilitates the ever-important networking and interaction that shape and define the unique ecosystem of the Broadcast and Media technology industry. All members are supplied with infrastructure of services and facilities to encourage discussion and collaboration across the whole BaM supply chain. With 600+ members worldwide, IABM represents practically all the leading technology suppliers in the industry – small, medium and large businesses across every step of the content chain. By engaging with members through a wide variety of IABM-sponsored platforms and activities, IABM can help them understand the challenges in pursuing the new opportunities of the digital age.
