Software packagers for OTT must be flexible, scalable, reliable and run on COTS hardware with internal or external storage.

A modular SW architecture will offer the specific functions required by the operator (live and file based transcoding, segmentation, high performance storage management, packager, DRM engine and origin server). This will allow functions or new packaging formats to be added as required, and without dependency on a specific encoding vendor.

As requirements evolve each module must scale to meet them along with the appropriate levels of redundancy.

Typical requirements:
  • Hardware or software transcoding option
  • Support for muliple CDN's, encoding and packaging formats
  • Just in Time packaging for linear, catch-up, time-shift or live-to-VOD
  • Edge deployment without CDN support
  • Service monitoring
  • API for integration with external systems
  • Support for multiple DRM vendors
